Frequently Asked Questions

How often and how long are therapy sessions?

Most individual therapy sessions last 50 minutes and are typically scheduled for once per week. For clients with more significant impairments, I may recommended longer or more frequent sessions. Therapy sessions may also be decreased in length and/or frequency as therapy goals are mastered.

For consultations and parent support or training sessions, we might schedule for 50- or 80-minute sessions, depending on the need.

Prior to beginning therapy with me, we will discuss your specific needs and decide together what will work best for you. Please contact me for a free phone consultation.

How long do psychological evaluations take? When will I get results?

Psychological and psycho-educational evaluations take place across several days. I typically test in the mornings. During the first testing session, I gather background history, conduct diagnostic interviews, administer questionnaires, and describe the assessment procedures going forward. The following 2 to 3 sessions involve direct assessment of the client (e.g., IQ tests, academic achievement measures, autism evaluations, etc.). Each session typically lasts 2-4 hours, depending on the client’s age, test battery, and other factors. Within 4 weeks after the evaluation is completed, the client and/or parents or legal guardians will be offered a feedback session to review the results of testing and recommendations. A comprehensive written report will be provided to the client and/or client’s legal guardians.

How much do therapy sessions cost?

Fees vary by length of session and modality of treatment. I offer concierge services for all my clients. Limiting the number of clients I see allows me to be available for supplemental meetings or phone calls in between sessions if needed, consult with other professionals involved in your or your family member’s care, increase the frequency or duration of sessions as needed, and address other issues that may come up. Most of these services are offered at no additional cost to you.

To discuss fees for your needs, please contact me. Payments are due at the time of services. I accept cash, check, and credit card.

How much do psychological evaluations cost?

The cost of psychological/psycho-educational evaluations varies, depending on the reason for testing, the client’s age, and other factors. I offer assessment services through Neurocognitive Consultants. For more information about assessments, please visit Neurocognitive Consultants website or contact me directly to discuss your specific needs.

Do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance and, thus, would be considered an out-of-network provider by insurance companies. Depending on the plan and deductible, reimbursement from your insurance company for psychotherapy or psychological evaluation may be available. Please contact your insurance company directly to obtain a detailed explanation of your benefits, including required pre-authorizations and procedures for submitting claims. Upon request, I can provide you with a detailed statement that you can submit directly to your insurance company.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. No shows and cancellations or reschedules with less than 24 hours’ notice will be subject to the full fee of the session. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time.
